Little Louie was born days after his mother was saved from a kill pen. Now both her and her baby have lives full of love and joy. This painting was created by the 2015 Kentucky Derby artist Kimberly Santini, and proceeds from it's sale went to Lucky A Ranch, the rescue group that saved Mom and baby and so many other animals.
About Kimberly Santini
First and foremost, I am a Mom. This means I have eyes in the back of my head, spot on intuition, the patience of a saint and mountains of compassion. I am also a painter. I am asked at least once a week, “why do you paint?” Despite the frequency of this question, I have yet to come up with a particularly brilliant answer. I simply paint, because like breathing, I must. Painting is my career. It is how I help to support my family. It is how I give back to my community. It is also how I maintain my sanity.
